
She studied at the renowned High School of Art and Design in Manhattan where she majored in Package Design and Illustration, and at the Rhode Island School of Design where she received a BFA in Textile Design with a focus on screen printed fabric.
Lately, she has been screen printing on paper, combining her textile technique of flat, divided colors with her watercolor technique of layered transparency. Whatever the medium, April’s work is characterized by strong shape, composition and color.
She grew up on Staten Island, the daughter of an architect father and a mother who made fine enamelled jewelry. She has lived in four of the five boroughs of New York City, spent ten years on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and currently lives in Philadelphia.
